Why use Advanced Custom Fields with WordPress?

Using it where you need strict content structure, where all the pages needed to be in similar format for example product pages. Blocks are more enjoyable and easier to use for making variations in your content, but ACF is good for adding stricter content.

Using Advanced Custom Fields with Custom post types for creating lists of things, different content types and those content types may need notes for helping with writing content.

What the custom fields look like on the post page. This is positioned below the Gutenberg block editor but can be placed above or to the side.

I use this layout in my case studies part of my site underneath the content, the custom fields are used in the portfolio page for sorting. The radio fields are to apply what type of technology the projects use, when a visitor visits the portfolio page, they can click on the category that interest them.

In the ACF settings changing where the field types can be displayed. If you want your ACF to be on the sidebar as a field to change the content when it’s getting built. In Gatsby build it could use that info to make changes to a page when it’s being built.
